Elementary Education
*“True education means more than the pursual of a certain course of study. It means more than a preparation for the life that now is. It has to do with the whole being, and with the whole period of existence possible to man.”
The Elementary Education Department of the Office of Education in the Southern Union Conference of Seventh-day Adventists supports approximately 142 elementary schools across Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, and Tennessee. The department cooperates closely with the North American Division Office of Education in the selection, adoption, and development of curriculum and assessment resources that serve students and educators across the southern region.
Working collaboratively with education leaders from the Union’s eight conferences, the Elementary Education Department supports effective teaching and learning through research-based instructional practices, thoughtful curriculum implementation, and continuous improvement. This work includes piloting new resources, supporting professional learning, and contributing to the elementary advisory process to ensure curriculum remains relevant, rigorous, and responsive.
Grounded in the unity of faith and learning, the department partners with conference leaders to promote Jesus as Savior, nurture safe and supportive learning environments, and ensure a guaranteed and viable curriculum aligned with grade-level standards and best practices in instruction and assessment.
