Education
The Southern Union Conference Education Department oversees a comprehensive educational network that spans 175 campuses, serving more than 13,000 students from birth through 12th grade. This extensive system is supported by over 1,000 dedicated education professionals working in classrooms, administrative offices, student support services, and conference education departments across the territory.
In addition to its robust K–12 presence, the Southern Union is home to three prominent tertiary institutions—AdventHealth University, Oakwood University, and Southern Adventist University—which collectively enroll more than 6,000 students. This brings the total number of learners within the Southern Union territory to over 19,000, reflecting the department’s significant impact on the region’s educational landscape.
The department’s mission is rooted in the principles of Christian education, as expressed in Proverbs 22:6: “Train up a child in the way he should go and when he is old, he will not depart from it.” With a commitment to academic excellence and spiritual growth, the Southern Union Conference Education Department strives to equip students with the knowledge, skills, and values necessary for lifelong success and meaningful service.
The scope of this ministry is vast, encompassing a diverse array of educational settings and programs. Through God’s continued guidance and blessing, the department remains dedicated to supporting educators and inspiring students and their families to make lasting, positive decisions for their lives and communities.
