Women’s Ministries

Purpose:  To direct the department that ministers to the spiritual, physical, social, emotional,  and intellectual needs of women in the Southern Union Conference.

Vision:   To be intentional about ministering to the spiritual, physical, social, emotional and intellectual needs of all women with love and compassion and  inviting them to follow Jesus.

Mission: To nurture, empower and reach women through discipleship, reclamation, evangelism, affirmation, mentorship, and servant leadership (D.R.E.A.M.S.)

The Southern Union Conference Women’s Ministries Department is dedicated to supporting and nurturing the women’s ministries conference directors and local church leaders as they focus on the spiritual, physical, social, emotional, and intellectual needs of women in their conferences and churches. The Union director also works closely with the North American Division of Women’s Ministries and acts as a bridge between the conference directors and the North American Division Women’s Ministries Director.

Since May 2018, Shirley Scott has been serving the department with humility and dedication. She brings over two decades of experience as a women’s ministries leader in her local church and conference. Additionally, she has served as Conference prayer coordinator for four years and Conference Sabbath school director for two years. She also served as Oakwood University Registrar for seventeen years and helped thousands of young adults in their educational pursuits.
