Communication Services

The office of communication has two main areas, marketing and publications, which serve Church members, conferences, institutions, and the public in a variety of ways. It also assists the Southern Union administration and departments in reaching their objectives through brochures, expertise in photography, writing, video production, marketing, design, and print production. Many types of outreach and service are part of the Communication Department’s mission.

Services

Broadcasting Outreach
A radio subsidy program for new radio broadcasts has been in effect for several years. The local conference and Union combine to provide 50 percent of the cost of air time while the local church sponsors the other 50 percent.

Church Identification
The Highway Sign Program currently maintains more than 2,000 church directional signs and billboards in the Southern Union territory. The Southern Union employs the only full-time church sign engineer for Seventh-day Adventists churches in the world denomination. In addition to installing new signs, hundreds are inspected and maintained yearly to ensure a positive image of the Church.

Church directional signs, identification signs, and billboards may be ordered online or by contacting Reggie Mattison.

Professional Communication Society
The Society of Adventist Communicators is an organization for networking, continuing education, and nurture for Seventh-day Adventists whose careers are in fields of communication. This includes students, freelancers, small business owners, and church communication professionals. >>More Info

Publications
The Southern Tidings is a 40-page, full-color news magazine for members of the Southern Union Conference of Seventh-day Adventists.
