Publishing
"The great object
of our publications
is to exalt God and to call men's attention
to the living truths of His word."
Colporteur Ministry, pg. 2
Dating from the earliest days of our Church, and
even before we had an official name, the power of the press
and its potential for reaching hearts and minds with the gospel
has always been an essential part of our mission outreach.
Here in the Southern Union the literature ministry
has been a powerful agency for spreading the third angel's message
through our Home Health Education Service, three Family Health
Education Services, the youth publishing outreach, 12 Adventist
Book Centers, and several bookmobiles.

Adventist Book Centers
From the very beginning of the Advent Movement, the printed
page has been a most important means of presenting truth. Today,
the Adventist Book Centers continue to supply our members with
truth-filled literature. Our churches depend on the ABCs for
their Sabbath school supplies. Our schools order many of their
textbooks through the ABC. Members and nonmembers enjoy the
vegetarian foods at the ABC.
The Southern Union has one of the strongest ABC programs in
the North American Division. Annual sales in the Southern Union
are currently more than $10 million per year. This represents
approximately one-fifth of the total sales in North America.
In the past five years, total ABC sales were $44.7 million.
This is an increase of $8.2 million over the previous quinquennium.
For those who do not live close to an ABC, there is adventistbookcenter.com.
Started in 1999, this on- line ABC enables members to shop on
the internet. Orders are shipped from the nearest ABC.

Family Health Education
Service
The Southern Union FHES serves three conferences, South Atlantic,
South Central, and Southeastern. Primarily a cash-based program,
the Union FHES supports the upbuilding, training, and equipping
of hard-working literature evangelists and their families.
Regional conference students from the schools, academies, colleges,
and churches participate in our small book program; They have
sold thousands of dollars of truth-filled literature and prayed
in tens of thousands of homes, along with our full-time and
part-time literature evangelists. God is still calling men and
women to the literature work.
