FYI Gulf States and Florida have the greatest percentage increases in membership. With over 47,300 members, Florida is the largest conference; and Georgia-Cumberland has the most schools at 59. The South Atlantic, South Central and Southeastern Conferences are devoted to meeting specific cultural needs, and are made up of congregations and institutions which are primarily African-American, Caribbean, Asian, or Spanish-Speaking. KY-Tennessee was the first formed conference in 1876, and Carolina is the first recorded conference to have an organized effort to reach the Native American population. |
