A professional development program utilizing video and other educational communication technologies, including Edmodo, a course management system, to connect teachers within subject areas twice a year and to provide a platform for ongoing community and interaction throughout the year.  The success of this program depends upon identifying individuals who are passionate about facilitating their subject area learning community (ideally one from secondary and one from the university level for each subject area). Each session should generally include a presentation from an expert, teacher sharing time, Q & A and other activities designed to foster teacher development and interaction as each subject area cluster determines to be beneficial.

Our Mission - To provide professional growth and mentoring for Southern Union secondary teachers in partnership with willing and qualified Seventh-day Adventist university professors.

Our Vision - Cost effective, regular, and well-attended union-wide professional development for educators that results in ongoing sharing and interaction.

SUPLC Objectives
  1. To integrate faith and learning into each discipline.
  2. To provide resources for continuing insights into current research and issues in each subject area.
  3. To identify and implement best practices.
  4. To build and maintain a learning community between secondary and university subject area experts.
  5. To ensure that each subject area meets twice during the school year.
  6. To align each presentation with NAD Secondary Standards for each subject area.
  7. Anticipate and address logistical needs, nomenclature, organizational issues, materials and infrastructure.
To Schedule A Session
Email Sarah Wallis with the date and time of the session to swallis@southernunion.com and she will email the invitation to the teachers.  The facilitators of each subject area will be given the email list for their subject area cluster so they can communicate with the teachers as needed.
